Only slightly more spendy than your Perkins breakfast or starbucks coffee, etc ... You won't be disappointed. Help this local business stay and try them out!!

Since it's not far from my work, I will go back here when I need cupcakes for another celebratory occasion. Selection is decent, cafe looks nice and the cupcakes were good. It's not cheap--I spent $13 for two cupcakes and one slice of cake, but everything was good. I recommend the Oreo cupcake. The chocolate frosting they use is ridiculously good!

A very charming locally owned business. We haven't eaten there yet but the bakery is over the top. Everything is beautiful & tastes wonderful. Love, love the coconut cake. So moist and the frosting is to die for. Lots of cupcake selections. Just what you'd expect an upscale bakery coffee shop to be. Light & bright!! Few tables for outside dining also.

I was excited to go with my friends and grab a cupcake. They were closing at 2 and we arrived about 10 minutes before close. The woman had to (reluctantly) describe some of the cupcakes to us. This issue could easily be resolved by having small signs in your display. We were then informed that we must leave with our orders as they were closing. As someone who has been a server, I understood wanting to close so I was okay with this. Another staff member told two of my friends that we could stay and eat as several customers were still eating (at least three tables had paying customers at them). Another EXTREMELY rude woman walked right up to me and said you must take yours to go, we are closing. I said okay trying to be polite (albeit a bit shocked by her behavior). The group went outside. I had ordered a coffee. As I was putting cream in my coffee, the same woman loudly talked about is and openly stated that she was rude to us so we would leave. I was shocked by this. I realize we aren't regulars and we were happy to take our food to go so why be so rude. I rarely write reviews but this play needs to learn customer service (other reviews state similar issues). The cupcake was okay but I will not be returning after I was basically mocked openly by the staff.

This visit was better than the last visit. Last time I popped in, the lady behind seemed more interested in chatting on the phone for awhile, so I left. Stopped back in today for dessert to go with a friend. We looked at all the desserts and settled with 3. A peanut butter cupcake for J which looked good, but I'm not a big fan of peanut butter. It had filling in the middle. I chose the cherry crumble bar which was very good. I love that crumbly stuff on top. My friend chose the chocolate cupcake which looked very attractive. The lady helping us was very helpful. Big fan of that cherry crumble bar.

I'll admit that my feelings were immediately impacted by two (probably minor) factors: 1) the hours listed on Yelp! said they were open until 6pm but the hours on the door said 5pm - which meant I could hang out here and kill the 90 minutes I had hoped to 2) they were out of cinnamon pull aparts that where the primary reason I chose this spot. Despite those two immediate set-backs (yes, first world problems) I bravely trudged ahead once the guy behind the counter was nice and assured me there was no problem staying here to eat and drink my items even though they were closing in 15 minutes. Problem #3: they had at least 16 varieties of cupcakes in the display but none of them are labeled. "Would you like any of the cupcake flavors identified" he asked. Well no shit....I want them ALL identified. Well, that's what I wanted to say. Instead I asked about 2 and then ordered a mocha and a key lime cupcake for myself and some cookies to bring home for my lovely bride. I didn't want to push my luck any further. My suspicion that I was overstaying my welcome was confirmed when he pointed be across the room to where the plastic silverware was located so I wouldn't be tempted to use the real stuff right next to counter which would require washing. The cupcake looked good and the weight almost overwhelmed the poor little plastic plate it was served on. It was definitely heavy. The first sign of trouble came at the first attempt to get a fork full - I couldn't dent the frosting with pitifully over-matched plastic utensil. I had to call in reinforcements - in this case only a plastic knife was available. I eyed the full metal jacketed versions over near the counter but didn't have the courage to try for one. So I soldiered on with my disposable tools. A top to bottom cut was successfully made but no without struggle. Not only was the frosting cold and thick, but the cupcake itself was very dense and heavy. These cupcakes look like a group of high school girls all dolled up and ready for prom - all beautiful and sweet but, in this case, cold and dense. Yes, I suppose I could have let the cake sit for 30 minutes to warm up but 5pm was coming quickly and I had to move on. Now I will admit that the cupcake itself had a good flavor. The frosting, however, was just thick and cold. In fact, it kind of crumbled when I cut through it - I had to spear chunks of it with my fork to combine it with the cake portion. Will I go back? Well if they correct their hours in their Yelp listing, label their cupcakes and lighten up their frosting then......no, never mind. I won't go back anyway. This place seems to rely on their looks and location - the product didn't seem to justify the price. Too bad - that cinnamon pull apart thing looks great in the pictures. By the way - this might have been a 2 star review except I was impressed with how nice the two people behind the counter were to customers.

I came in here and it was right before they closed but the girl who was working was pretty short with me. As soon as I walked in she was like, "we are closing, what are you getting?" I wanted to browse the dessert case before I made my decision. And none of the desserts were labeled with the flavors so I had to all her the flavors of the cupcakes, bars, cookies, macarons. I think she was annoyed by that so I told her that maybe they should just put up little labels next to the flavors so I didn't have to ask about all of them. I ended up getting a meltaway. It was a little sugar cookie with buttercream frosting. It was pretty good. The peanut nut goodie bar looked good. If I ever do come back I'll get that. I won't come out of my way to go here again though.

Disappointed. I was really looking forward to a good cupcake but the two we had were poor. The frosting and filling were hard and the cake itself, dry. Will not be going back. Added a star for friendly service.

OH MY GOD. Caveat, I've only been here for the first time today. I got a piece of cake: raspberry and buttercream filling, lemon cake, and butter cream frosting. The service was fantastic. Friendly and very helpful. First.........bring your cake to room temperature, just like cheese. It was so hard to stop eating the cake so I could have it at room temp. It was a large portion, it was really moist, the flavors came together just right. They have a handful of different cupcakes. I was asked if I wanted one. But I've lived in the 2nd east coast city where the cupcake rage broke and world famous cup-cakeries are. From the naked eye I doubt these cupcakes would have met my experiences, but more importantly, just like the dessert bar of Minnesota, the cupcake should fade gracefully into oblivion. It's a mobile, world culture. Let's move on already. So......while I'll return, I don't know that I will ever get a cupcake.

Wow..these are what cupcakes should be! Let them warm a bit if you like them extra creamy...the white cupcakes with raspberry cream frosting...WOW!!! We got 3 cupcakes to share and the box was super heavy...these are delicious, intense cakes on the dense side with tons of fluff on the top...so good and super cute cafe...my one beef is there are no prices...We got 3 cookies and 3 cupcakes and it was 16.00. The cookies were nothing to write home about but the cupcakes are amazing! I just would like to know what I'm paying when I order.

Everything was great for the most part. The staff was very friendly, their displays were gorgeous, and their samples were downright intoxicating. Enough so that I was swayed to buy 2 cupcakes for breakfast. They were good, but I really wish that they were to let them sit out on the counter instead of in a refrigerated display case, because the cold dries out the moistness of the cake itself, and hardens what I'm sure was creamy frosting at one point. The flavors were still very good, but cupcakes (and cakes for that matter) shouldn't be so cold that they're stiff.

I loved the cupcakes here! It was especially fun stopping because my small dog was welcome into the shop and given a treat. it didn't hurt to have fabulous food to bring home for dessert that night. I've only tried the cupcakes, which were really very delicious, but once I've tried one of their other items I will post about that too. We will be back!

It had been several years since I'd last been into A Piece of Cake. We almost didn't go because the first trip several years back was dissappointing (due to lack of selection), but it was close to where our hotel was, so we thought we'd try picking up a dessert there. I am VERY glad we decided to walk back through the doors and give it a second chance! The selection which was much better, consisted of some amazing gourmet cupcakes that are actually more like small cakes. There are also several other delicious looking bakery items available. New since the last visit, A Piece of Cake interior has expanded and now boasts a clean/quiet coffee shop. I will definitely be back again.

Skip the bagels and donuts when you need to bring in a treat for work. Stop in the morning when the Pull-Apart is warm out of the oven, and your co-workers will beg for you to bring in the "pink box". If you don't feel like being nice to the guy in the next cubicle, treat yourself to anything in the case. You will not be let down! A Piece of Cake also does...you guessed it...wedding cakes! Many an occasion when we have been inside while a to be bride is tasting desserts with her mom and girlfriends, giddy as schoolgirls from all the sugar in the air , and the smell of sweet possibilities.

This place hasn't been reviewed much but from previous reviews I figured I'd give it a shot. They have quite a few styles of cupcakes and pastries. I tried what I believe was a Raspberry Rhubarb Torte and it was pretty amazing. I'd highly recommend it. I also tried a part of a Lemmon Poppyseed Cupcake with Lemon Frosting. The Lemon flavor in the frosting was a bit too strong for my liking but I look forward to going back and trying their other desserts.

I'm a little late in writting this, as the cake we ordered was a few monthes ago, but I was just reminded of how disappointed we were in the cake we ordered for a baby shower that I still wanted to write. We paid $200 for what ended up being a very plain cake. Yes it was layered, and when I asked what made the cake worth $200, she replied the labor of making it a layer cake. Upon eating the cake, we saw that labor was sticking 4 sticks into the lower layer and putting a piece of cardboard on top of it. The decorations were minimal - I felt I could have made the cake myself, and it seemed it was not as pretty as the pictures led us to believe. The cake itself was fine tasting. It was a pretty good cake, worth about $50 max. We wished we had just gone to Costco and got a prettier cake and awesome tasting for $30. This is not to diminish the rest of the items they sell. I love the bakery items a lot. But the cakes are way, way, way overpriced for what you end up getting.

I don't typically like cupcakes, but these were awesome! Frosting is not too heavy. Some of them are little bit too sweet for me, but Oreo one was really good. I went and I bought six, ate them all! PS: you need to take them out of the fridge at least 15 minutes before eating

The cupcakes are amazing: best I have ever had. The cream filled ones are quite a decadent treat: suitable for sharing depending on your tastes.

I spent about $50 for a 10-inch layered strawberry filling white cake here and didn't think the flavor or cake was anything special. The whipped icing was decent but the cake was not as moist as expected. We ate this side by side with a Tres Leche cake from cafe latte and that cake by far was tastier and at about $30 it's a better value too for small parties.

Whatever delicious oatmeal, caramel, chocolate bar I had, gets an A PLUS. The service I encountered in getting this deliciousness gets an F. A big FAT F. The woman behind the counter replied to my inquiries as if someone was stabbing her in the neck. Repeatedly. Service is key lady. Take a lesson from Paula Dean. SMILE. Oh, and the red velvet cupcake that my friend had was not as good as the one served at Stellas. Yes, the fish cafe.

I haven't been here in years, ever since they stopped baking bread. I drove by today and went in on a whim. What I get are these tiny pastries with loads of frosting. So good. And plenty of tasty cookies and cakes and cupcakes. Red velvet is the in cake now, not sure if it's just a valentines thing, but it looked good. Cans of cold soda are offered, including Canada Dry gingerale. Nice seating area for a nice part of Selby.

If you are a lover of frosting, this place is for you! Their bakery case has a display of about 10 cupcake varieties, each piled sky high with rich, perfectly creamy and sweet frosting. The gentleman behind the counter was more than happy to describe each of the flavors to me and let me know that the Spiced cupcake with Caramel Cream Cheese frosting was his favorite. I said sign me up and I took that baby home. Oh my, was it ever delicious! The cupcakes are so big that I ate mine on a plate with a fork. They also have slices of cake, of course, with classic flavors such as Red Velvet and Carrot Cake. And don't miss the dainty sugar cookies, again piled high with a heavenly buttercream frosting. Oh mama, I could have eaten a dozen of those! The shop is on Selby Avenue and it's easy to find parking nearby. They also make coffee drinks and have a few tables available if you want to stay to devour your goodies. The shop is bright and white - it almost feels like you've dropped by for a tea party. Love it!!!
